1.Used as paint solvent, penetrating agent, leveling agent and organic synthesis intermediate, also used as additive of jet fuel;

2.It is the intermediate of the herbicide ether sulfuron-methyl and the solvent of various lipid nitrocelluloses and synthetic resins.

3.As reagents for determination of iron, sulfate and carbon disulfide, used as solvents for various oils and fats, lignin, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, alcohol-soluble dyes and synthetic resins.
